Poor Ike. He'll say do this and do that and nothing at all will happen.

Harry Truman
About This Quote

In the movie “Escape from New York,” the hero, Snake Plissken, was captured by a man named "Ike" who was very overbearing and bossy. In the movie, Snake tried to escape and he did it in such a way that he was degrading and insulting Ike. Ike would say things like: "Do this and do that and nothing at all will happen," and "I told you not to do that," and "I don't want to hear any more of your stupid babbling." The hero, Snake Plissken, wanted to get away from Ike but Ike wouldn't let him. Eventually, Snake took advantage of Ike's weakness by using his captor's own words against him.

After all, when someone is in a position of power they can use their authority to make you feel like you're talking to a child or a moron. We see this happen time and time again in our society today. For example: The president says: "Do this and do that and nothing at all will happen." The politician says: "You can't trust anyone over 30." The boss says: "This job is not for you."
